From February 24-26, 2020, Explore Minnesota Tourism hosted their annual conference in Alexandria, Minnesota. Each year, organizations and tourism related businesses are recognized at the annual “Excellence in Tourism Awards” banquet. Visit Cook County has received numerous awards in the past but this year held something extra special. The Rising Star Award was presented to Kjersti Vick, the Public Relations and Marketing Director for Visit Cook County.
Most folks receiving awards are nominated by the people they work with on a day-to-day basis, but Kjersti was nominated and selected by the staff at Explore Minnesota. She was recognized as a world traveler, avid outdoors person, gifted photographer and every day adventurer.
After attending school out east and then living out west, she decided there is no place like her hometown: Lutsen. Travel, marketing, the outdoors and the arts are part of her nature. Kjersti literally started downhill skiing as soon as she was able to walk, which instilled a lifelong passion for winter. She is as enthusiastic about cross country skiing as downhill. She has started an annual tradition where she skies every day during the month of March inspiring many locals to rise to the challenge and join her.
As the social media voice of Visit Cook County destination marketing, Kjersti’s intuition and curious nature have led to many innovative marketing campaigns that have had deep and lasting impacts. Her reputation for compelling photography and her delightful social media presence mirrors the spark in personality that people get to experience when interacting with Kjersti face-to-face.
Recently promoted to the position of Marketing and Public Relations Director, her team at Visit Cook County was very excited to hear about this nomination. She is recognized locally as being a master in her field. We look to her leadership as she has cultivated many relationships in the region and at the state level including with Explore Minnesota.
