Evolution appears to be hard at work

In our government’s quest to provide personal protection gear for our heroic medical professionals, perhaps decision makers should be thinking a bit more out of the box…or more to the point, out of the bra. Every piece of this common woman’s apparel item could provide two dandy facemasks. Even the manufacturers of athletic supporters might offer some type of suitable oral viral protection. Both industry suppliers have expertise in fit, comfort, breathability and hold ample supplies of fabric and elastic straps.

Rather than gearing up General Motors production lines to make ventilators, maybe scuba equipment manufacturers could be recruited as a worthy alternate choice, having fewer re-tooling and labor training issues. They additionally would know how to properly connect an oxygen tank.

Frivolous considerations of course, but then so are the unwarranted “too little, too late” criticisms of the monumental government efforts to save lives from a pandemic that is equivalent to curbing an alien invasion. Unfortunately some of us seem oblivious to following pathways meant to insure our continued wellbeing.

Coronavirus is rampantly using the human species as a vessel to seek what it needs to reproduce itself and in the process can unwittingly cause its own demise by killing its host. A rather ironic parallel seems obvious. As our species extracts what we need from our host planet, while vastly increasing our numbers in the process, ultimately humanity may experience a similar detrimental outcome.

Evolution appears to be hard at work…wear a mask…use a condom.

Not necessarily both at the same time .
