Former Cook County Viking All-Conference football player Colin Everson is having a great junior season playing defensive end on the Cougars’ football team.
Everson recorded two sacks and forced a fumble in Minnesota Morris’ (4-4) loss to St. Scholastica (7-1) in a game played at St. Scholastica on October 24.
Everson had nine tackles, a sack, three tackles for a loss, a fumble recovery, a pass breakup and quarterback hurry in the Cougars’ game against Northwestern played September 19.
During his sophomore season Everson appeared in 10 games, recording 50 tackles (10 solo, 40 assisted) and was second on the team with 10 tackles for a loss. He also finished with 5 sacks to lead the team. During his freshman season he finished with 5 total tackles.
At 6 feet, 225 pounds, Everson isn’t big for a defensive end, but he makes up for that with strength, speed and heart.
In high school Everson weighed 190 pounds and played running back and linebacker. He was also an All-Conference guard on the basketball team his senior year and originally looked at playing basketball as well as football at Morris, but he decided two sports were too much with his busy academic schedule.
Colin is the son of Cindy and Mitch Everson, Grand Marais, and brother to twins Casey and Cody. He is majoring in math and secondary education with a minor in coaching.
