Ever popular “Christmas Pageant” is back

It’s back! The most
requested play the Grand Marais Playhouse has ever performed…The Best
Christmas Pageant Ever!
Just in time to put us in the spirit of Christmas.

This play tells the story of the Herdmans—six delinquent children who go to church for the first

time after being told that they could get some snacks at church. They wind up being a part of the Sunday school’s Christmas play and chaos ensues.

This year’s production sees updated music and a more dramatic story line than you may have seen previously. You can enjoy some music solos as well as a number of ensembles.

Treat yourself, your guests and your children to this play—it is the perfect holiday gift. Performances will be on Friday, December 10 through Sunday, December 12 and Thursday, December 16 through Sunday, December 19. As always, Sunday, December 12, will be a “pay as you can” performance. The Culinary Arts program at the high school will be selling their fabulous fare at some of the performances as well.

This past weekend many of us enjoyed a free preview of the 2011 Playhouse season. With eight shows scheduled for 2011, it will be a year when quality theater will be enjoyed by our community almost every month. Visit our website for the new season update as well as to find out audition dates.

I don’t want to “give away” the whole season, but two of the plays I can’t wait to see are Shout—
a rockin’ musical filled with ‘60s music, and Macbeth,
which will be a springtime production. And Always, Patsy Cline
is coming back also. Oh, I want to tell you all about each of the upcoming plays…

The Playhouse will also be experimenting with repertory theater this season. Not familiar with this term? It means that we will be repeating shows…. all the more opportunity for us to bring guests to the Playhouse during the season. 2011 will be a test season of sorts—more plays, more opportunity to see each play, and a commitment to keep our expenses low.

Don’t forget that season tickets make great stocking stuffers. We are hoping that members will consider renewing memberships before the end of the year and that we will get some new
members. Community support is what keeps us afloat.

Happy Holidays!
