Evelyn (Eve) Clark,

Evelyn (Eve) Clark, beloved wife of Henry Clark, beloved mother of Linda Johnson, Becky Johnson and Kay Johnson, beloved stepmother of Bridget Boettcher and Brenda Reddick, passed away Dec. 22, 2012, after a valiant battle with cancer, congestive heart failure and ataxia.

She was preceded in death by her father Iver Forland; her mother Ethel Rogne Forland; and siblings Lowell, Adolph, Iver, Ramona and Gina. She is survived by siblings Elroy Forland, Victor Forland, Phyllis Strong, Susie Taylor and Steve Forland, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Agnes Forland was born in Farmington, Minn. on Sept. 28, 1942. Her parents were Iver Emanuel Forland and Ethel Tonette Rogne. As a result of her heritage, she was 100 percent Norwegian. (As they say, you can always tell a Norwegian, but you can’t tell them much.)

She grew up with her family in Lakeville. Later they moved to Princeton. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1960. After graduating from high school she relocated to the Twin Cities where she worked for several years. After she moved to the Twin Cities she adopted the nickname “Eve.” Therefore her family knew her as “Evelyn” and most other people knew her as “Eve.”

While living in Brooklyn Park she met Henry B. Clark in 1976. They were married in Forest Lake on Dec. 26, 1978. They lived in Brooklyn Park and Oakdale before settling in Roseville in 1985, where they lived until the time of her death. She and her husband spent their summers in Grand Marais from 2002 to 2012.

Education was very important to Eve. She received an associate of arts degree from North Hennepin Community College, a B.S. degree in resource economics from the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis, and an M.S. degree in applied economics from the University of Minnesota- Minneapolis. She used her education in working for the state of Minnesota for several years as a utility rates analyst.

Eve was a multi-faceted person, which seems an understatement. She loved spending time with her blended extended family, her service dog Gander, gardening, quilting, reading a vast variety of books, exercising to be as physically fit as possible, collecting stamps, playing the piano, spending summers in Grand Marais, collecting dolls, playing Scrabble, classical music, genealogy and traveling, among other things.

She had a beautiful smile and a special way of connecting with people and she will be sorely missed.
