The Poplar Lake Area Association will sponsor a free workshop for cabin owners from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Mid- Gunflint Trail Fire Hall 1.
The workshop is designed to brief cabin property owners on their options for transferring property during their lives or when their estates are settled; to reduce family stresses over property settlements; to prompt people to action; and to update their estate planning and the listing of beneficiaries.
The workshop will present some common cabin property problem scenarios and several options for transferring cabin property ownership. An attorney familiar with cabin property transfer issues will talk for an hour on legal considerations in Minnesota and some of the tax considerations. This will be followed by a question and answer period of about 30 minutes.
