Ervin James (Jim) Beaster of Hovland, Minnesota passed away peacefully on November 8, 2022, in the loving company of his family. Born September 25, 1942, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, he lived a full life of adventure and achievement including an active childhood with his siblings (David, Joan, and Tom), service overseas in the Army, a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Idaho, a career hiking the woods as a forester in Washington State, and in retirement an ambitious project for his family to design and build a log home overlooking Lake Superior.
Sentimental, romantic, imaginative, curious, hard-working, intelligent, and loyal are just some of the words that described this wonderful man. Above all, his life was motivated by a dedication to his family and loved ones.
He is survived by his loving wife (Francie), four children (Laura, Karl, Timothy and Tristan), and eight wonderful grandchildren (Emelyn, Grace, Camilla, Gwen, Maeve, Lyra, Kimball, and Crosby). He is preceded in death by his father (Ervin Herman) and mother (Virgil). A private burial service will be held at Maple Hill cemetery in Grand Marais, Minnesota. A celebration of life will take place at a future date. Husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, colleague; he is already missed beyond words.
