Emma Smith is finalist in PBS Writers Contest





Emma Smith, the daughter of Bob and Sarah Smith of Grand Marais, was a finalist in the PBS Kids Go! Writers Contest. Emma and her family were invited to attend a celebration of PBS writers at Marshall School in Duluth. They had a great time taking part in the contest which broke the record for submissions to PBS.

WDSE PBS-8 saw a record number of entries in its 2010 writing contest. Thisyear 5,112 children from 40 area schools submitted entries in the PBS
Kids Go! Writers
Contest.
In mid- April the finalists were announced. Among them was Sawtooth thirdgrader Emma Smith with her story Greg
and the Race!

Emma was one of the many students in Lorelei Livingston’s class who entered the contest. As a PBS finalist, Emma was invited to the contest celebration on April 18 at the auditorium of the Marshall School in Duluth. There was entertainment and refreshments and a wonderful celebration of the PBS writers.
