The Playhouse will hold a public reading of the play for those interested in auditioning on Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m. at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. The play takes place in Rotterdam and Alice has finally plucked up the courage to email her parents and tell them she’s gay. But before she can hit send, her girlfriend reveals that he has always identified as a man and now wants to start living as one. Now Alice must face a question she never thought she’d ask . . . does this mean she’s straight? A bittersweet comedy about gender, sexuality and being a long way from home. Performances are June 10 and 11 at 7 p.m. at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. The author has requested the following casting requirements: Trans representation is really important. The character of Adrian is a trans man and every effort should be made to cast a trans, non-binary or gender queer actor in the part. This may mean looking beyond the usual pool of actors, proactively seeking out trans, non-binary or gender queer performers, and/or holding an extended audition period to accommodate this search. Trans, non-binary and gender queer actors should also be invited to audition for the other roles and every effort should be made to make the production as inclusive as possible.

Roles are Alice, Adrian, Lelani and Josh. Rehearsals are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. but may be adjusted by the ensemble following casting. The play will be directed by Sue Hennessy
