Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Regier Pearson





 

 

Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Regier Pearson was born on July 2, 1928 to Dr. Cora Dyck Regier and Walter P. Regier in Moundridge, Kansas. She died on October 29, 2012 after courageous battles with Alzheimer’s and breast cancer.

She married her devoted husband Charles Gephart Pearson on September 5, 1953 and they enjoyed 58 years of marriage before Charlie’s passing last year.

Betty leaves behind her daughter Leslie Bissell (Arne Johnson) of Kansas City, Kansas and sons Brian Pearson (Lydia) of Louisville, Kentucky and Andrew (Michelle) Pearson of Camden, North Carolina, as well as her beloved grandchildren Alex Pearson and Anne Pearson. Betty is also survived by her sister, Ethel Hubbard of Tulsa, Oklahoma as well as several nieces and nephews.

Betty was an occupational therapist and retired as head of the Occupational Therapy Department at Via Christi Hospital in Wichita. She met her husband on the job, serving as his occupational therapist following an automobile accident. Betty and Charlie lived in Topeka, Kansas for the first few years of marriage, eventually relocating to Wichita, Kansas where they made their home for many years before moving to Louisville in 2009.

Betty was an accomplished gardener. Many of her friends and family will remember Betty when they see the beautiful plants they received from her over the years. She was also a talented craftsperson who enjoyed jewelry making, sewing and many other crafts. She also refinished furniture and remodeled the family home.

Betty and Charlie spent a lot of time at their cabin in Lutsen, Minnesota, where her garden still blooms.

According to Betty’s wishes, no services will be held. Memorials should go to Hosparus, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Drive, Louisville, KY 40205-3224.
