Eleanor Sjoberg

Eleanor Gladys Jentoft Sjoberg, daughter of Mogens and Helen Jentoft, died January 6, 2022. She was 93 years old.

She is survived by her daughter Kristi (Dave) Carambula, grandsons Nathan Carambula, Aaron (Kelly) Carambula, Christopher (Liz) Sjoberg, Nicholas (Cassie) Sjoberg, daughter-in-law Cheryl Sjoberg and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Sjoberg, son Steve Sjoberg, her parents and sisters.

Born July 1, 1928 and raised on the banks of Spruce Creek in Lutsen, she graduated from Grand Marais High School and spent her entire adult life in Grand Marais. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Eastern Star, active in the start up of the Golf Course and the Curling Club and was co-owner of the ElRay Cafe with her husband for 20 years. Thirteen winters enjoying retirement with old and new friends in Arizona and traveling with her husband were treasured memories. Summers, eventually year-round, on Devil Track Lake, were favorite times, and watching her grandsons and great grandchildren grow and succeed was a great source of pride.

A service to celebrate her life will be held in May.
