Eleanor Dubinsky & Dario Acosta Teich to play at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts

North Shore Music Association welcomes multilingual vocalist/songwriter Eleanor Dubinsky and virtuoso Argentine guitarist Dario Acosta Teich on July 23, 7:00 p.m., at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts.

Bringing audiences together with fresh interpretations of jazz, Latin, French, popular, and original songs, this duo has been called “a bright light on the musical landscape” and “powerful magic.” They’ve been hailed for the way they grace the stage with performances that transcend genre and geography and celebrate the healing power of music.

Called “a multilingual musician who can capture the emotions and soul of a community in a song” (NPR), vocalist, guitarist, and cellist Eleanor Dubinsky creates music that lives at the tender edge where jazz, world, and pop sensibilities meet emotionally forthright songwriting. Singing in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, Dubinsky brings open-hearted authentic cultural fluency to dynamic compositions that explore the fragile links between human emotions and responsibility. In the words of journalist Tom Pryor, audiences can expect “a joyous, uplifting and deeply generous performance… this is music as medicine for your soul.” At the center of Dubinsky’s artistic mission is using music as a means for empowering and amplifying marginalized voices and generating dialogue amongst diverse audiences. She was a U.S. State Department Arts Envoy and a member of the 2020– 21 Gibney Moving Toward Justice Cohort (a fellowship supporting artists working at the intersection of art and social justice).

Dario Acosta Teich’s masterful guitar technique serves an endlessly imaginative musical mind. He has spearheaded jazz ensembles, composed for orchestras, and improvised with jazz icons such as William Parker and Mike Stern, all while cultivating his deep Latin American roots. He has collaborated and performed with Argentine greats and explored a world of other sounds, playing with everyone from Garifuna icon Aurelio Martinez to Tim Ries, long-time brass player with the Rolling Stones. As a solo performer and ensemble member, Acosta Teich has appeared at major festivals and venues in 14 countries around South America, North America, the Middle East, and Europe. In 2022, he was awarded the Mercedes Sosa Award for Best Jazz Album.

Tickets for this event are $20 general admission, on sale now at northshoremusicassociation.com, and at the door. Masks will be required at this event.

This activity is made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
