Elaine Alfreda (Berglund) Jusczak

Elaine Alfreda (Berglund) Jusczak, 97, of Moose Lake, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2020, in Augustana Mercy Care Center, Moose Lake. The eldest of eight siblings, Elaine was born November 12, 1922, in Maple Hill Township near Grand Marais, to Alfred and Signild Berglund where she was raised and graduated from Grand Marais High School. After high school she worked for two years at the Weather Bureau in Devils Lake, North Dakota. Elaine met her husband, Peter P. Jusczak, at a church service in Duluth, Minnesota. They were married on June 12, 1948, and made their home in Moose Lake. They were married for 66 years when Peter passed away in February of 2015.

Elaine was a wonderful, caring, giving woman; a daughter, a sister, a mother and a friend to many. She never missed an opportunity to share her deep love and faith in her savior, Jesus Christ. Elaine, Peter and family attended the West Side Church. She was a great cook, baker and canner. She found joy in playing her piano and singing favorite hymns. She loved taking walks, gardening in the summer months and had a special knack for raising beautiful houseplants all year round.

Elaine was the matriarch of a busy and large family dairy farm. She had a special way of taking care of her family and others. On any given day, or time, she would always have the coffee pot on, baked goods or food to share with farm workers, salesmen, Peter’s brothers, and farming friends that might drop by.

Elaine also worked as a nurse’s aide at Mercy Hospital’s Nursing Home from 1968-1974. She enjoyed what she contributed there to the residents of the facility at the time.

Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, Peter Jusczak, her parents, Alfred and Signild Berglund: three brothers: Alton (Carol) Berglund, Wallace (Betty) Berglund, Palmer (Ginger) Berglund; two sisters: Mabel (Paul) Kohuth, and Annabelle Abelman.

Elaine will be lovingly remembered by a sister, Hazel McClanahan of Grand Marais; a brother, Clifford (Julie) Berglund of Grand Marais; her four children: Karyn (David) Oachs of Moose Lake, Rosalyn (Greg) Evenson of Plymouth, Minnesota, Ronald (Roxanne) Jusczak of Moose Lake, Mavis (Clay Kim) Hartman of Moose Lake. Elaine and Peter took great pride in spending time over the years with their 7 grandchildren: Peter K. (Kim) Jusczak, Isaac (Ashley) Hartman, Lucas (Jen) Jusczak, Aaron Hartman, Danielle Larson, Aleshia (Ryan) Pena, Travis (Kim) Jusczak, and 13 great grandchildren: Julia Jusczak, Aiden Larson, Jorja Jusczak, Raegan Larson, Jenna Jusczak, Lucy Hartman, Tessa Pena, Brennen Larson, Wyatt Hartman, Ellie Hartman, Margo Pena, Leo Jusczak and Hazel Jusczak.

A private family internment service will be scheduled for a later date at Riverside Cemetery, Moose Lake.

We thank the physicians and staff of Gateway Family Health Clinic, Ltd., Augustana, and St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care, attention and kindness over the years.

Arrangements by Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.
