Ekstrom’s will shoot to play over 100 holes of golf in one day for Folds of Honor

On Sunday, September 11, Heath Ekstrom will once again attempt to golf over 100 holes on the beautiful Superior National golf course for the Folds of Honor Patriot Golf Day fundraiser.

Once again Heath will be joined in his quest by his brother Drew, a fellow PGA member. The brothers will challenge each other to see who shoots the lowest score and who can raise the most money for Folds of Honor.

What is Folds of Honor?

Folds of Honor Foundation is an organization that provides scholarships for spouses and children of military members who have been disabled or killed while serving the country.

Heath also dedicates his play to the late Lutsen native George Nelson Jr. George was a World War ll veteran and a 10th Mountain Division specialist who donated the Superior National golf course land to Cook County.

Using a golf cart and with the aid of friends and family, one year Heath played 135 holes. He averaged 45 minutes for each nine holes and when he was finished, he had a score of 560.

Can Heath beat his record year? And can he best his brother for lowest score/most funds raised? The big day is coming soon so we shall see. But the real winners of course are the veterans and their families who are helped from this annual event.

Since its inception in 2007 Patriot’s Golf Day has grown into a nationwide event that has raised over $60 million and funded more than 12,000 scholarships for veterans, their spouses and their children. Heath and Superior National are taking pledges and donations right up to the day of the marathon challenge.
