For the fifth consecutive year, brothers Heath and Drew Ekstrom are taking on the Folds of Honor golf challenge.
“On Friday September 11, Patriot Day, the brothers will take to the beautiful Superior National golf course and, “We will try and golf as many holes in a day as we can,” said Heath Ekstrom, who is the Business Manager/ Head Golf Professional at Superior National.
In 2017, Heath played 135 holes on Patriot’s Golf Day, breaking his mark of 122 set in 2016.
But in 2019, the brother’s combined for a total of 261 holes of golf. “We were able to raise close to $8,000,” said Drew.
To golf 135 holes in one day during the dwindling daylight hours, the Ekstrom brothers will need to average about 45 minutes for each nine holes of golf.
While both brothers are passionate about golf, playing over 100 holes in one day is a rigorous and exhausting challenge, and they are hoping the community can assist them in their fund raising efforts for this worthy cause.
“We and the Folds of Honor need your help,” Drew said. “We would greatly appreciate any donation you can give or if you would like to pledge on how many holes I golf that day; 50 cents-a-hole, $1.00-a-hole, let me know and I will mark down your pledge amount. No amount is too small and every dollar counts.
To those unfamiliar with the organization, Folds of Honor Foundation is an organization that provides scholarships for spouses and children of military members who have been disabled or killed while serving the country.
In the brothers’ four previous years, they have raised close to $25,000 for education scholarships the Folds of Honor gives to military families.
