The Cook County eighth-grade girls started out strong on October 1 in a tournament in Carlton by placing 1st in their pool play beating Hermantown, Carlton and Southridge. That win advanced them to play-off action and they played a tough team from Northwoods. The girls beat them in two games advancing to the championship match against Southrange.

Coach Kelly Roberts happily declared, “We beat Southrange in two games to take the tournament!”

Roberts said last year this same group of players won 1st place at the Carlton tournament as seventh-graders.

This year’s seventh-grade team also did very well, earning 2nd place in the challenging tournament.
