I am writing this letter in support of the Cook County Schools Education Foundation. This foundation has been in place since 2000 and has already made funds available for school projects. However, it can be so much more.
Community members and supporters can donate cash, pledges, restricted funds, endowment funds or planned gifts (bequests, trusts and life insurance). The fund is a liaison between the donor and the school system. The fund’s board determines what the money will be used for. It’s an independent charitable organization NOT controlled by the school district.
Our school can really use the extra support that this fund would supply. It is facing sizable shortfalls in future state support.
Dick Struck is a retired professional fundraiser who has offered his expertise in making our Cook County Schools Education Foundation a viable supplement to our school. Please take advantage of his offer to help us meet our educational goals.
We have an excellent school system in Cook County. There is a high graduation rate, with many of our young people going on to college and vocational training. Let’s get behind our school system and show our support. The Education Foundation gives everyone a chance to have a lasting effect on our future generations.
