EDA and HRA boards to meet to discuss possible merger

The Cook County/Grand Marais Joint Economic Development Authority (EDA) and the Cook County Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) will hold a joint meeting on Thursday, February 16, 2023, from 3-5 p.m. at the Grand Marais City Council Chambers.

This is a special meeting for both the EDA and the HRA, as it is not either of their regularly scheduled board meetings. This is not a Public Hearing. Neither the EDA nor the HRA board will vote at this meeting. The session may result in the respective boards having further discussion and a vote on whether to move forward with a merger.

The topic of merging the two entities came up with the recent departure of EDA Executive Director Beth Drost who left mid-January to accept the position of Executive Director of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe.
