Once again political tensions and aspirations are running high in Northeastern Minnesota. Several candidates seeking the legislature have filed for the House District 3A Special Election on September 29 to fill the seat of my late father, David Dill.
Of the long list of candidates seeking office only one truly stands out. Rob Ecklund-DFL of International Falls has the skills, expertise, knowledge and intensity to get the job done in St. Paul. I have witnessed Ecklund’s work first hand as a Koochiching County commissioner. Ecklund has been outspoken and supportive for organized labor, multiple-use access for outdoorsman, hunting and fishing, forestry and wetland issues as well as countless other items.
Voters have a lot at stake in this election. One of Ecklund’s challengers, Bill Hansen, has a different view for Northeastern Minnesotans. Hansen is once again running his campaign on smooth talk and big promises. He has an extremist agenda with a metro-centric mindset of antimining/ development, smoke and mirrors, $14 per hour coffee shop jobs and music around the campfire for anyone who shows up. Hansen simply isn’t the kind of representation we need or desire.
Please join me in supporting our next Minnesota State District 3A Representative Rob Ecklund on September 29.
