Rachel Enwright, Mentor Naturalist at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center, is scheduled to present “Echoes of the Ancient Skies” on Wednesday, January 18, at 6 p.m. at the Grand Marais Public Library.
Enwright’s presentation takes the audience back in time and across the world to learn how people have used the night skies as a tool for navigation, telling time, tracking the changing seasons, and more.
The audience will find out how different groups of people have invented their stories about the pictures they saw in the sky and how these stories express differing values and beliefs about the world. Particular attention is paid to Navajo, Ojibwe, Greek, and Mayan stories.
This presentation is underwritten by the Library Friends of Cook County, is free, and all members of the community are invited to attend. The event is family friendly.
