East Bay Suites, along with the five other Minnesota lodging establishments owned or managed by Odyssey Development, is no longer about hospitality – it’s about entertainment. Thatwas the word from owner Bob Ryan to East Bay General Manager Andrew Warren when Odyssey took over management of the historic Grand Marais business several months ago.

Now, guests who stay in East Bay’s 31 individually owned rental units on the shore of Lake Superior are offered help in planning their North Shore vacations. Whether they want to go charter fishing, get a deal at the Grand Marais Municipal Pool, or make s’mores on the beach, they have help making it happen.

On May 24, Odyssey representatives welcomed the community to an open house complete with hot dogs, popcorn, s’mores, and tours of the units.

Suites at East Bay are rented by the night and range in price from a low of $79 a night for a studio in the winter to $450 a night for a three-bedroom unit during Fisherman’s Picnic. They offer electric fireplaces, contemporary furnishings, and balconies with beautiful views. Each unit has a full kitchen and laundry facilities, and roughly half of them allow dogs.

All but one of East Bay’s 32 suites are available for nightly rental, and guests are offered assistance in planning their Cook County vacations.

Odyssey Development owns Caribou Highlands in Lutsen, Grand Superior Lodge and Larsmont Cottages in Two Harbors, and Trapper’s Landing in Leech Lake and manages Beacon Pointe on the lakeshore in Duluth. One of the 32 total units at East Bay Suites is still available for purchase.

In addition to facilitating vacation rentals and opportunities to own resort lake homes, cabins, condominiums, and town homes, Odyssey Development operates a real estate division, representing buyers and sellers of private homes and commercial and industrial properties. According to its website, the company’s construction division designs and builds custom homes for customers seeking comfort and long-lasting quality.
