The Cook County Recycling Center, a division of the Land Services Department, is hosting its Spring E-Waste Collection in conjunction with The Retrofit Company on Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will take place at the Grand Marais Recycling Center site at 630 5th Ave. W.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this event to conveniently and responsibly dispose of unwanted or broken electronics, small appliances and other e-waste items. Many items will be collected free of charge. Some items including the following will be accepted at a nominal fee:
. Batteries .50-$1/each depending on type/ lb.
. Fluorescent/incandescent bulbs, .50/each
. HID lamps/Shatter Shield, $2/each
. Broken lamps/non-PCB ballasts $1/each
. Neon/UV, $5/each
. TVs and computer monitors, $20/each
. Large appliances, $25/each
. Small appliances/other e-waste including printers, computers, cables, cell phones, small electronics are free
“This is an opportunity to declutter and easily dispose of old electronics and other items,” said Tim Nelson, Land Services director. “The e-waste event is a convenient and cost-effective way to ensure these items are properly disposed of.”
