Duluth runner wins 100-mile Superior Fall Trail Race

Caribou Highlands Lodge was the welcomed finishing point for the participants competing in the Superior 100 Fall Trail Race that began on Friday, September 5 at Gooseberry Falls State Park.

Adam Schwarz-Lowe, age 41, beat 141 racers to the finish line over the rugged Superior hiking trails, finishing in 21 hours, 58 minutes and 32 seconds.

Mallory Richard, 29, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, won the women’s race in 27: 32:27.

Both male and female winners of the 50-mile race were from Duluth. Chris Rubesch, 28, was the men’s winner while Kristen Rogenrud, 33, was the women’s winner. There were 107 runners in the field.

Ben Kampf, 28, of Minneapolis placed first in the marathon (26 miles, 385 yards) in 3:32:27 while Jyna Tilstra, 25, of Northfield was the women’s winner in 4:53:31. All told 216 people finished the marathon.

There were no Cook County entrants in any of the three races, surprising because there are quite a few trail runners in the area.
