On June 22, Governor Mark Dayton announced the reappointment of Steve DuChien of Grand Marais to the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board. His new term expires in January 2020.
DuChien serves on the board in the volunteer firefighter position. He has been with the Grand Marais Volunteer Fire Department for 31 years and is currently the assistant fire chief. He is active in the community and has been a CPR instructor since 1987. He has served on the local ambulance service for the past 26 years, now working as ambulance director at North Shore Health.
The Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board was established by the 1995 Minnesota Legislature. The governor appoints 15 members of the board from a variety of emergency service fields. Additional members are: the Minnesota commissioner of health, the commissioner of public safety, a state representative, and a state senator.
The mission of the Emergency Medical Service Regulatory Board is: To protect the public’s health and safety through regulation and support of the EMS system.
DuChien is also a board member of the Arrowhead EMS Association, currently serving as vice president of that board. The Arrowhead EMS Association is also made up by members of many different emergency response fields.
