Drugs seized from lost motorists

Two women who got lost on their trip from Quebec to British Columbia, Canada ended up at the Grand Portage- Pigeon River U.S. Port of Entry. They were almost arrested on federal drug charges.

The two women in a vehicle with Quebec license plates approached the port at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 2. They told the Customs and Border Protection agent that they were lost and one of the women declared that she was in possession of some “product” that was for her own personal use. She was found to be in possession of some drugs in pill form and some marijuana.

Reached by phone on July 6, Brian King, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Public Affairs Liaison, said because the women had not intended to enter the country and because they were honest about what they were carrying, the women were allowed to go back to Canada.

The products were seized and the incident documented, but no charges were levied.
