The Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) announced last week that Sandra Stover, M.D., a family physician who practices at the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic in Grand Marais is one of three finalists for the 2015 Minnesota Family Physician of the Year Award.
Family physicians were nominated for the award by patients and colleagues. The MAFP Board of Directors will select a winner after reviewing each finalist’s qualifications and reading nomination letters received on their behalf. MAFP stresses that the decision will be based on letters already received—no new letters will be accepted.
The 2015 Family Physician of the Year will be recognized at the MAFP Annual Meeting on April 16. The other finalists are Dr. Gregory McNamara, Little Falls; and Dr. Thomas Bracken, Onamia.
The Family Physician of the Year Award is presented annually to a family physician who represents the highest ideals of the specialty of family medicine, including caring, comprehensive medical service, community involvement and service as a role model.
The Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians is a professional association of approximately 3,000 family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students organized to assist family physicians in providing quality medical care in Minnesota. The MAFP is the largest medical specialty organization in Minnesota and is a state chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians, one of the largest national medical organizations in the United States with more than 103,000 members.
