The Grand Marais park board spent most of its December meeting setting prices for 2010. One theme of the discussion was a desire on the part of the park board to “go easy” on rate increases since the economy is in a slump. The board voted to continue offering Gunflint Hills Golf Course passes to campground guests at half price; the park will reimburse the golf course for its discounts. The board also spent considerable time debating campground rates, with the goal of attracting new people to the campground.

The tower under discussion is an entirely new one that will stand in addition to those already there. At this time, the site is home to three towers.
