Two weeks after rejecting a park board proposal to reconfigure the city’s marina and increase the number of slips from 13 to 25, council approved a revised plan that will result in 17 seasonal slips. The city has been looking for ways to make better use of the available space in the three-acre basin, in part to improve revenue, and in part to meet the demand for the service. There are currently 30 boat owners on a waiting list for available slips.
Students at Sawtooth Elementary School raised $612.30 for Pennies for Peace. The cash was presented to Dr. Jerene Mortenson, who started Pennies for Peace, last week.

Due to heavier than expected truck usage of the blacktopped Gunflint Trail, the road has failed, according to county highway engineer Chuck Schmit. Schmit said long-term, the road will have to be rebuilt to handle the constant pounding from huge logging, gravel and bituminous trucks. The numbers of these haulers now greatly exceeds what the designers of the Gunflint Trail ever imagined, he said.
Minnesota moose hunters will draw for slightly fewer numbers of moose licenses this year, but probably will have new and expanded hunting zones. There will be about 185 moose permits available this year, compared to 198 last year. The moose population is estimated at 4,100.

Mrs. Russell Ross reports that there are open patches of water on Caribou and the ducks are right there to enjoy same.
The new pastor of the Lutsen-Tofte Lutheran churches preached his first sermon Sunday and seems to have completely won the hearts of his congregation. He preached to a completely filled Tofte church.
Mrs. Emil Anderson became ill last Thursday and entered the hospital for treatment and tests for several days.

More than $1,500,000 will be spent in the Minnesota Arrowhead country this year on resorts, hotels and recreational features of tourists and convention visitors. This indicates the continued growth of the Arrowhead as a great summer playground. Present estimates point to about 400,000 visitors in this area during 1928.
Alarm clocks of all descriptions are now on display at Ed Toftey Co.
M.S. Green, justice of the peace at Mineral Center, is in town today. Just now he has a case of wife beating in his court and came in to consult the county attorney.
Lost — Last Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 between the school and the post office, a brooch of Russian antique with a large amber stone and four small settings. Please return to Miss Zehnder.
