A woman kayaker who was feared lost to Lake Superior and spurred an international search covering 528 square miles along the shoreline using airplanes, helicopters and seach boats, was found walking along Highway 61 east of Grand Marais two days later. The 29-year-old woman was found unhurt and completely unaware that both the Canadian and U.S. Coast Guard were looking for her, said Sheriff Mark Falk. A deputy picked her up on the highway after a tip that she matched a description of the missing woman. The search was prompted when officials at the Coast Guard station in Grand Marais received a report of a life jacket, paddle and capsized kayak floating in the surf between Five Mile Rock and Grand Marais July 8.
