City Administrator Mike Roth told council that Edwin E. Thoreson submitted the only bid, and although the amount is well above the engineer’s $200,000 estimate and exceeds the money on hand, he is confident the scope of work could be reduced to bring the numbers down to a workable level.

The ISD 166 school board voted not to renew the contracts for two probationary teachers at its Monday meeting. The action reflects the continuing decreasing enrollment in the school district, along with a reduction of hours for two other full-time teachers.

Grooming of state trails has been extended a month beyond normal schedules because of the longer snow season, and club trails have been given a supplementary legislative appropriation passed in March for extra Grant-in-Aid trail grooming. The use of the trails is up due mainly to the early and long snow season, record snowfall, and cool temperatures.
