The Cook County commissioners hosted state lawmakers David Dill and Tom Bakk for a discussion Tuesday that included such topics as the reopening of Taconite Harbor, ATV legislation and election funding.

A proposal to solicit bids for a storage building was sent back to the drawing board as the county commissioners expressed concern about the size and cost of the project. The debate and discussion was eerily similar to one that took place several weeks ago. At that time Maintenance Director Brian Silence was instructed to meet with the designated committee and come up with a specific design plan illustrating what would have to fit into the building, and how much space would be needed to accommodate those things.

She is back in school, however.

The building measures 24 feet by 32 feet, and was formerly occupied by the Helmer Olsens as a residence. The building will have fluorescent lighting and will be heated by a forced-air gas heater. The front canopy will have the sign, and there’ll be a pole for the flag. “This will be like going from the primitive to modern,” said one of the Tofte-ites.
