Doris Sivertson, 83, died April 8, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.
She had been retired for 23 years, after being the secretary of the Music Department at UMD for several years. She and her husband, Bruce, enjoyed camping in Grand Portage several summers and in various southern locations in the winters before settling briefly in Grand Marais before Bruce died in July 2016. Dorie moved to Duluth in September 2016 to a lovely apartment on the Lester River.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Eskola, her second husband, Ike Byholm, her parents Clara Lindbeck and Frank Lindbeck, brother Bud Lindbeck and sister Inez VanGuilder. She is survived by her first husband Howard Sivertson; her children Jan Sivertson, Jeff Sivertson (Sue), Liz Sivertson (John Gruber); stepdaughter Jody Hepola (Gary); brothers Clyde Lindbeck (Claudia) and Curt Lindbeck (Barbara); grandchildren Anne Sivertson, Chris Sivertson (Ashley); great-grandson Sammy Sivertson; step grandchildren Lily Gruber-Schulz, Clay Gruber-Schulz and Jeremy Eskola; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Doris loved her family, her dear friends in Grand Portage, her music students at UMD, and her work colleagues. She loved living near Lake Superior and Isle Royale. She loved to fish, she loved to sew and craft, and she loved dogs.
A Celebration of Life Reception will be held during the summer, date, time, and place to be determined.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at St. Luke’s Hospital for caring for her at the end of her life, and to the wonderful staff at the hospice center at St. Luke’s.
