The Grand Marais Playhouse’s youth/community musical Doo-Wop Wed Widing Hood wraps up this weekend, to the relief of some enthusiastic but tired children and their equally enthusiastic—but likely more tired—parents.

Doo-Wop Wed Widing Hood is a rocking musical by Charlie Lovett. Music and lyrics are by Bill Francoeur. The play takes place in the 1950s—hula-hoops are in high demand, and so is Little Red Riding Hood!

In addition to great music, cute kids and an entertaining tale of the wooing of “Wed Widing Hood,” the lobby of the Arrowhead Center for the Arts has been transformed into an old-fashioned soda fountain, courtesy of Rebecca Thompson of Alyce’s.

Play attendees have the chance to enjoy a malt, ice cream or soda before the show or during intermission. Like the play, it’s a delightful blast from the past.

Performances this weekend are Saturday, November 10 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, November 11 at 2 p.m.
