Don’t be fooled!

The news media is broadcasting that in midterm elections, votes are often cast for the party not in power especially when the electorate is unhappy with something.

Yes, we all have a reason to be unhappy with Inflation, but DON’T BE FOOLED into thinking that the Republican Party has a solution. They certainly haven’t put one out there, only criticism of Biden. There were praises from Republicans for Britain’s newest prime minister, Liz Truss’ plan to cut taxes on corporations and highest earners to spur economic growth. The value of the British pound plummeted almost immediately, and she resigned almost as quickly. It brought memories of Ronald Reagan’s Trickle-Down economics, tax cuts to the wealthy where the rich got richer and the poor and middle class got poorer; and of Trump cutting taxes on the wealthy which led to a $400 billion dollar increase in the deficit.

In contrast, President Biden and Democrats are working to rebuild the middle class by building “An economy from the bottom up and the middle out.” With legislation passed since he took office, 10 million jobs (700,000 in manufacturing) have been added, companies are investing in new industries and bringing manufacturing back to the US, unemployment has dropped to 3.5%, a 50 year low, infrastructure is being repaired and expanded, the deficit has fallen by $1.4 trillion, Medicare can now negotiate a price cap on certain drugs and a maximum yearly limit of $2000 on drugs for seniors on Medicare, investments are being made for transitioning to clean energy to increase energy security and add new jobs.

A Republican direction would undo this legislation, plus they are poised to cut Social Security and Medicare, warning that they will refuse to raise the debt ceiling to force agreement to their demands to “reform” Social Security and Medicare.

Inflation is a global problem, caused by a post pandemic demand for goods and services, a severe supply chain backup, Russia’s war on Ukraine disrupting food supplies, and price gouging by some corporations, particularly oil – not caused by a president. The US is faring better than most countries.

Think about it when you vote. DON’T BE FOOLED!
