Donna Joanne (Nelson) Nathe,
69, of Mesa, Ariz., passed away July 4, 2011, in her residence.
Donna was born in Duluth Oct. 30, 1941. She grew up in Grand Marais, graduating from Cook County High School, then attended Bemidji State University.
She taught school in Paynesville, Minn., for 21 years before moving to Arizona where she was employed with the State of Arizona Motor Vehicle Division until her retirement in 2003.
Donna was preceded in death by her father, Harry A. Nelson.
Donna is survived by her mother, Shirley J. (Joe) Nelson Haasl of Mesa; brothers Leslie (Karen) Nelson of New Hope, Minn., and Rick (Randi) Nelson of Grand Marais; sisters Nancy (Howard) Nelson Ryan of Grand Rapids, Betty (Robert) Nelson Clymer of Goodyear, Ariz., and Jeanne (Dewaine) Nelson Koetz of Chandler, Ariz.; six nephews; one niece; and 10 great-nieces and -nephews.
Donna’s siblings would like to give a special thank you to their nephew Greg Gimpl, his wife Mimi, and children Nicole and Hunter for the devotion and care they have given Donna.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in Meldrum Mortuary in Mesa. Services in Grand Marais are pending. Interment will be at Old Settlers Cemetery in Hovland.
