Donations needed for classrooms

When you go to www.donorschoose.org and enter the Grand Marais zip code 55604 you will find that two teachers are asking for donations. At Great Expectations School funds are needed to purchase a drying rack for kids’ art projects. At I.S.D. 166 a teacher is asking for funds to create a self-care station for her junior high students.

“My first-grade students love painting and making crafts. They love to get messy while they create. Often their art is very wet and needs a long time to dry. An art drying rack will give us a place to put all the beautiful, messy things the students create…A drying rack for art will also eliminate clutter as all wet art will be tucked away on the rack. Cluttered areas in a classroom do disorganize students minds, so this will help us keep our minds organized and focused on learning. Thank you for considering this important item for our classroom.”

At Cook County I.S.D. 166 a teacher is asking for funds to “Help me give my students the opportunity for their self-care needs to be met so they can go about the school day feeling their best. Having a self-service station stocked with what students need to take care of their personal hygiene needs will remove the worry and anxiety that comes with not having these needs met. This will give the students the opportunity to focus on their learning.”

The www.donorschoose.org site is easy to use, and teachers across the country use the site to solicit donations to help cover projects that aren’t covered in the school’s budgets.
