Donald Franklin Pennie, age 95, of the Twin Cities and Hovland, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2016.
He was born in Duluth on April 18, 1921.
Donald is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy.
He is survived by children, Daniel (Anne), Ralph (Helen), Jill (Mark), Philip (Marlene) and Rayner (Alicia); grandchildren, Elizabeth (Mike), Sarah (Wade), Eric, Melody, Eleanor, Signe, Nathan, Sean, Jonathan and Justin; great grandchildren Savanah, Camden, Peter, and one on the way.
His children give their thanks and most sincere appreciation to a concerned, generous and supportive father who saw them all through their various steps and missteps, joys and struggles. Dad, we wish you all the joy and chocolate ice cream the universe has to offer. Thank you.
The family wishes to thank the staff and aides at Timber Hills for the wonderful loving care and support they provided to Don and his family these last four years. We want to thank the wonderful caregivers that shared time with him, taking, giving and delighting in his impish approach to life. All did an excellent job in making these last years wonderful, enjoyed and peaceful. Thank you.
If desired, memorials preferred to the Minnesota Branch of the Nature Conservancy. A private family service will be held.
