It isn’t much, but the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is proposing to extend the lake trout fishing season for Lake Superior by one week.
Currently the season ends September 30, but under a new proposal the season would run through the first week of October.
Anglers and others wishing to comment on this change have until 4:30 p.m. December 22 to get their comments to Linda Erickson Eastwood, Box 20, 500 Lafayette Road, St. Paul, Mn 55155-4020. All submissions must contain the writer’s full name, phone number and address.
The new proposal fits with the DNR Lake Superior management plan. It is believed that extending the season by one week will have little impact on the overall trout population.
