Diane Marie (Drouillard) Johnson died peacefully in the early morning of November 2, 2018. Diane was born in Grand Marais on September 8, 1939 to Fred and Lola Drouillard.
The youngest of seven children, she was a graduate of Cook County High School and lived for many years in Monticello, Minn. She earned a B.A. in criminology and worked in the area of law enforcement for the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, until she retired.
Diane spent her elder years in Grand Portage, where she was the caretaker of the elder’s housing complex and shared her skills as a gardener in the elder’s community garden plot.
She is survived by two sons, Cody and Lance Johnson, three granddaughters, two grandsons, her sister Gloria Martineau, her brothers Gale and Francis Drouillard, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Diane loved to tell stories, was known to have a sassy sense of humor, and loved animals, especially dogs.
Mass will be offered in honor of Diane at St. John’s Catholic Church on December 8 at 8 a.m. as part of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception service. There will be a family memorial for her at a later date.
