After making it to the final eight, Ashley Deschampe’s bid to travel to New Orleans at the end of March to participate in the Women’s National High School 3-point Shooting Contest is over. Each week votes posted on Facebook were tabulated and after an early lead, Ashley’s lead dwindled and by the seventh and final day of voting, she trailed her rival. Her competition received some aid, though, when people attending a recent Phoenix Suns game were asked to vote for her. Ashley received local support but not statewide support. Still, Deschampe was upbeat and said she was thankful to all of those who voted for her.
