Deer hide collection successful

Pete Harris, “Hides for Habitat” chairman, reported that 195 hides were collected from drop boxes located at the Tofte Holiday Station, Buck’s Hardware in Grand Marais, and Runningen’s Retail Store in Hovland.

Sale of the hides will bring over $1,000 to the Arrowhead Chapter, Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, to help provide up to five Forkhorn Camp scholarships for boys and girls ages 11-17 in the summer of 2011.

More information about the summer camp program is available at mndeerhunters.com. Anyone interested in applying for a camp scholarship may contact Harris at (218) 387- 1868.

“I would like to thank all of the successful deer hunters who donated their deer hides this past season, and for making this a successful fundraiser,” Harris said.
