An expert on stress will be the featured guest at this month’s business lunch.
According to Grace Bushard, Cook County Social Service supervisor, it is not uncommon for employers in Cook County to contact Public Health and Human Services regarding concern for their employees who may be experiencing stressful situations. Some of these concerns include depression, chemical dependency and occasional thoughts of suicide.
On Wednesday, Feb. 23, William Maloney will share his experience and provide information on how employers can help employees balance stressors in their personal life with work. He will also discuss the business model of an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which offers support and assistance with employee performance and productivity through difficult times.
Maloney has over 25 years of experience in helping employees deal with stress. He offers behavioral health training and consultation to many different entities including schools, government offices, the military and the Department of Justice. He provided services in the Oklahoma City, Littleton, Colo., World Trade Center Ground Zero, Sen. Paul Wellstone’s plane crash, and the Red Lake Indian Reservation incidents.
The Cook County business luncheon is sponsored by Cook County Higher Education and the Northeast Entrepreneur Fund’s Women’s Business Network. All people interested in learning more about helping employees balance life stressors with work are invited to attend the luncheon.
The presentation and lunch will be held Feb. 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Pie Place in Grand Marais. The cost for the luncheon and presentation is $12.
