David Louis Brislance





 

 

David Louis Brislance was born December 5, 1940, to Louis and Mary Brislance in Wanamingo Minnesota. He went to Luther College and graduated with a BA degree in art. He worked for D J Peterson Paint Company in Sheybogan, Wisconsin and later for Holcomb Company in Indianapolis, Ind.

David married Mary Olmanson Brislance in 1964, and they enjoyed just over 53 years together. They lived in Indianapolis for three years, and 36 years in Isle, Minnesota where David taught art and social studies for 33 years and coached boys’ basketball, girls basketball, football, and track. In 2003 they moved to Lutsen and the two built their new home. David enjoyed 15 years in the “Ridge Above Lake Superior “ for its scenic beauty and his wildlife photography.

David is survived by his wife Mary, son Jean of Maple Grove, son Brett and wife Blythe of Duluth, two precious grandchildren, Will and Aubrey of Duluth, sister Lorraine and Jeroy Carlson of Edina Minnesota, and sister-in-law Michelle Brislance of Tucson, Arizona, nieces and nephews Liz, Jon, Pablo, Elisabeth, and Suzanne, Mary’s two sisters, Jean and Wayne Andreen of Los Alamitos, Calif., and Ann and Jim Friederichs of St. Peter, Minn.

David will be missed by many family members and friends. The wildlife and the birds will miss their “Chickadee Dave.” Memorials may be sent to Wild and Free in Garrison, Minnesota, Wildwoods in Duluth or Lutsen Lutheran Church.
