The Carlton County DAV (Disabled American Veterans) concluded its golf scramble at the end of August at the Gunflint Hills Course. The event raised just under $ 3,000.00 in net proceeds. All monies will be dispersed in Cook County with the support of the County Veteran Affairs Officers, and other local Veteran entities.

Event organizers would like to recognize the efforts of several local supporters Ray “Punky Pederson and Dan Richards for their superlative efforts. Grand Portage Tribal Chair Robert “Bobby” Deschampe for his current and future support. Grand Portage Lodge & Casino for the excellent venue, accommodations, and buffet; thank you Eric, Todd, and Rory! Gunflint Hills Golf Course, thanks Paul, Todd, Paul, and the rest of the crew. Special thanks to Grand Marais State Bank employees Lea Leonard and Jody Smith; for their volunteerism at the check in, and all the great swag! I certainly can’t forget Dairy Queen FREE Blizzards for all that attended the banquet! What a sweet treat!

Many local businesses supported the event. Three of these stepped up and became Major Sponsors of the event. Thank you to Best Western Plus Superior Inn, Grand Portage Lodge/ Casino, and Full Sun Trail Services.
