If you like music, there’s plenty to be found in Cook County on December 29.
Cook County’s Most Wanted (CCMW) will bring in the new year at the GunFlint Tavern in downtown Grand Marais. The last time CCMW played for New Year’s at the Tavern, folks were dancing in the street! The music starts at 8:30 p.m.
Boogie Wonderland will light up the Grand Portage Lodge and Casino event center on New Year’s Eve performing their live version of great funky classics. Dance the night away with Twin Cities Disco/ R&B favorites Boogie Wonderland Tuesday, Dec. 31 from 9 p.m. to midnight in the Grand Portage Lodge & Casino event center. Tickets are $25 at the door. Must be 21 or older. Personal beverage containers are not allowed. Drinks may be purchased in the casino bar. Plus, there will be $3,000 in Hot Seat Draws from 3 p.m. to midnight. Crab legs and prime rib dinner are $32.99 per person. Call (218) 475- 2401 for reservations.
Grandma Ray’s is hosting a New Year celebration featuring 4-Shore, a local rock band made up of John Mianoswki, Danny Wilson, Amy Flack and Lance Anderson. The band will begin rocking the joint at 9:30 p.m. and play until 12:30 a.m.
From 10 p.m. until 1 a.m. DJ Beavstar will lay down some funky tracks at Papa Charlie’s. DJ Beavstar will keep you dancing all night with his esoteric selection of electronic music.
So, if you don’t want to ring in the new year in your PJs by watching the ball drop in New York City on TV, get on your dancing shoes and head out for some fun.
