It is with loving thoughts and memories that the family of Dale Lavonne Saethre, 81, of Mayo, Fla. announces her passing into the loving arms of God.
Dale was born in Minnesota on March 24, 1937 to Jean and Tony Webb. She graduated from Duluth Central High School and took lessons at the Art School in Minneapolis.
Dale loved volunteering. She was a 4H leader, Sunday School teacher, a Circle member and an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran church. She wrote a column for many years in the Cook County News- Herald. She loved bowling and was on a league for many years. Many remember her sense of humor and her giving spirit.
Dale married Dale Warren Saethre in 1955. Together they owned and managed Travelers Rest Resort in Grand Marais for 24 years.
In later years they spent their winters in Ormond Beach, Florida and their summers in Grand Marais. When family members bought Suwanee River Rendezvous Resort, Dale and Dale moved to the resort near Mayo, Florida where they remained active and involved partners in the campground. They made many friends at Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort and were especially beloved by campground snowbirds.
In June of 2018, Dale moved to Lafayette Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Mayo where she was lovingly cared for by the staff who quickly became friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Dale W. Saethre and her daughter Susie (Frank) Page.
Survivors include her children Michael of Las Vegas, Nevada, Daniel of Mayo, Florida, Patrick (Linda) of Deltona, Florida and son-in-law Frank Page. Grandchildren Shannon (Jai) Fuller, Chris Fuller, Candace (Arnoud) Malfoy, Kuala Lumpur, Nicholas Saethre, Jane Clark, Elizabeth Rivera, Melyssa (Ryan) and Heather (Chris). Great-grandchildren Renee, Claire, Sable, Layla and Cameron. Siblings Peggy Gerald and Ann.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 12 at 11 a.m. at the Mayo Methodist Church. A lunch will be served following the service. Anyone wishing to provide a dish for the luncheon may bring it to the church prior to the service.
