It started with larger serving sizes and cheaper prices. Next came a revamping and refurbishing of the interior and exterior, with additional outside seating installed. But would it be enough to regenerate a business that had slumped?
Proof would have to come from the public throughout the spring and summer. Would it be thumbs up? Or thumbs down?
When the Grand Marais Dairy Queen made a lot of those changes last winter new General Manger Rob Hackett crossed his fingers and hoped the community would approve.
And boy, have they.
“The response has been tremendous. We’re very happy with the way the year has turned out. Business is up and the local response has been phenomenal,” Hackett said recently.
To thank supporters Hackett and his crew are putting on a Customer Appreciation Week at the end of September. Everything will be 20 percent off in the store.
“It’s a way to give something back to all of the people who have supported us through this transition. We’ve received wonderful support and a lot of encouragement,” said Hackett.
Customer Appreciation Week will be held Monday, September 24 through Sunday, September 30.
In addition to 20 percent off, Hackett said the store would also have drawings for prizes.
“We hope people come by. We would like to thank them for their support. I hope they stop in and sign up for the drawings. Or just stop by and just say hi,” said Hackett.
