On August 8, the staff at the local Dairy Queen made many blizzards, about three times more than they would make on a normal summer day, but this wasn’t a normal day, and maybe, said Dairy Queen Manager/Co-owner Rob Hackett, it was a record for the store.

Whether it was a record or not, it was a great day, said Hackett of the August 8 Dairy Queen Miracle Blizzard sales, and he thanked everyone who purchased the tasty treat from his store.

Proceeds from the sales of those Blizzards were donated to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as part of the 8th annual Miracle Treat Day.

This year participating Dairy Queens in Minnesota and Wisconsin raised an estimated $5 million. Money raised from Dairy Queens in Minnesota and Wisconsin benefit Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare located in St. Paul, Minnesota, the nation’s first hospital for children who have disabilities.

“The local support for this fundraiser was just tremendous,” Hackett said. “From my wife and me and our entire staff, we just want to say thank you to everyone who came out and helped support this important cause.”
