Cute Puppies

Do you know why God made puppies so cute? I will tell you why—because if they weren’t cute we’d hang them by their heels from the clothesline every time they were naughty!

Which in the case of our new canine addition would be about 15 times a day! Yes we (okay, it was me) decided we needed a new puppy. Our lab was getting old, I rationalized, and what would our dachshund and Australian shepherd do without an active playmate?

My husband innocently commented on a tri-colored border collie one day and the idea took hold that we had to have a new puppy this summer while Jack and Ben would be home to help potty train her. Under the guise of a “Father’s Day” present my son Jack and I set out “puppy shopping.”

Our selection would be limited to only tri-colored female puppies which must be hard to find. Wouldn’t you know the first breeder we called had a 10-week-old tri-colored girl? How lucky could we be?

Schultzie

Schultzie

We named her Schultzie after our recently departed German exchange student, Tim. No his last name wasn’t Schultz….he spent 10 months convincing my two sons and their friends that if they didn’t say Schultz after they burped they would get a slug in the arm! Kind of like a German variety of “slug bug.” I heard “Schultz” several times a day for almost a year!

Schultzie is an adorable, smart and very sweet puppy. She has to be because she has become a 12-pound poop maker. This little sweetie peaty can be outside a full hour, then come in the house and drop a pile faster than you can say bad dog! She has also decided our deck and new sun room are her private porta-potties as well. God forbid that our five acres of grass and fields could be an option!

Then she gives me these huge adorable eyes that say, “I just don’t know what got into me, please give me another chance and I will never befoul your carpets again.”

Of course I fall for it….I have to, she’s a cute puppy!

There is a story told
of two dogs…
Both at separate times walk
into the same room.
One comes out wagging his
tail while the other comes
out growling.
A woman watching this goes
into the room to see what
could possibly make one dog
so happy and the other so
mad.
To her surprise she finds a
room filled with mirrors.
The happy dog found a
thousand happy dogs
looking back at him, while
the angry dog found a
thousand dogs growling
back at him.

What you see in the world
around you is a reflection of
who you are.
