Current Birch Grove students’ artwork on display at Cross River Heritage Center

During the 2010- 2011 school year, Birch Grove Community School students were given the challenge of listing qualities of their school community through prose, poetry and art. Many of the students chose to print “Birch Grove” down their paper then write a phrase about a characteristic of their school across the paper using a letter from Birch Grove. Using the “c” in birch, Halle Lamb crafted a sentence, about her teacher, “I want to go to college because of you.”

The Birch Grove Community School will put its students’ work on display at the Cross River Heritage Center until the end of the 2011 season.

In conjunction with this exhibit, John Salls and Larry Longmore will be giving a program about first year teaching at the Heritage Center on August 27 at 1:00 p.m. John Salls will be signing his book First Year. Larry Longmore will be talking about his first year teaching at logging camp school, the Forest Center School.
